One of my favorite memories in karate was breaking my first board. I had never done that
before, but once I was in my zone, I was ready. I had never believed I could do that before, but at that moment, I thought that all I would have to do was try my best, even if I didn’t break the board, I could always try again but the next time I would put more heart in it. I love that moment a lot because it shows how much I have grown since I started karate.
I used to never believe in myself, but that moment was just one fraction of all the moments I’ve had during training that have strengthened me. I feel good in my own skin because of all those tiny seconds of my life. The trip to the Black Belt Success is like climbing a mountain, to the top of the mountain is hard but that journey will shape you into a great person on the inside and out.
I think that karate is special because it doesn’t just focus on your physical health, it also focuses on your mental health. It does that because if you’re physically great but not mentally then how will you progress. You can’t. I also love karate because of the community it builds with other people. You need those friendships to get you through life. It will help you overcome fears, and it will help you with being ok to ask for help from time to time. Karate helps you learn things that will help you in life. It makes you grow mentally and physically.
